I Love EU

The European Union turned 50 on March 25th. Over 900 people in Beijing and 400 people in Shanghai celebrated with us at "I Love EU" on March 24rd and 23rd. This blow-out event featured 6 up-and-coming live electronic artists and DJs from the EU and a locally based DJ from the EU. Sponsorship support came from the Minsheng Bank, Novotel Peace Hotel Beijing, The Kerry Centre, Turkish Airlines, SAS, Embassy of Austria, Embassy of Italy, Embassy and Consulate of Germany, Embassy and Consulate of Poland, Embassy of Sweden, Embassy of Malta, the British Council and not least, the European Commission. This event from concept planning, and branding to execution and post-production was handled by BOAevents.
Talent included:
Austria: MAKOSSA & MEGABLAST- afro-electro dub duo
France: TAMBOURBATTANT performing live Drum‘n’Bass.
Italy: NINFA & SUPABEATZ with a live electro dance set.
Germany: DJ IPEK playing Middle Eastern Breaks.
Poland: VEIN CAT performing live New Wave and electro.
Sweden: SYNTHETICAL, a live electro toy band.
Beijing: Local Syndicate DJ BLACKIE (UK) took us into the wee hours with one of his infamous Drum ‘n’ Bass sets.

In October 2006, BOA collaborated with brilliant upandcoming Spanish electro-pop musicians, The Pinker Tones DJ Crew. With and incredible live set, this Spanish act shook-up Club Fusion in Beijing and rocked the new 4 Live in Shanghai with I-Go and other locals. The Pinker Tones also packed beyond capacity a workshop at the Spanish cultural organization, Instituto Cervantes.

A2F played at Yugongyishan (BJ), Electrotown (SH), Tanghui (SH), and the new D-22 in Haidian. The Beijing shows were great thanks to strong support from the owners of both YGYS and D-22! In Shanghai, Electrotown was a seriously high-quality performance and A2F SOLD OUT Tanghui on it's second night open!! More than 550 people showed to hear the duo shake up the place. Intercom AKA Ant AKA Paul Gaspelin brought fom the U.S. his lush melodies and drum’n’bass/trip-hop rhythms to Yugongyishan in Beijing. On the opening of the 2006 Dashanzi International Arts Festival, Intercom teamed up with Shanghainese master musician B6 in Vibes old factory space.

On December 1st, 2006 socially conscious party goers packed Kokomo for a great cause! Lots of us took advantage of Kokomo's new menu and more importantly, the goody bag with information provided about HIV/AIDS, condoms, playing cards, etc. Djs A-list and Mizchif mixed it up with everything from hip-hop to funk and electro. This year, we all raised even more donations than last year for Beijing AiZhiXing Institute of Health Education (www.aizhi.net). Thanks to everyone for coming out and being so generous!

In cooperation with 010 Productions, and o2 Culture, BOA provided decour and promotional support for one of Beijing's best parties of the year, Yen Fetish Halloween. This year's theme was post-apocalyptic manga complete with an entrance scene of lava covered broken earth, summary video of the end of the world, silver hanging torsos, ceiling star blankets and all sorts of freaky lights! This event with more than 1,000 participants sold out by a lot. We can't wait 'till next year!

World AIDS Day 2005

BOA and BGLAD raised money for the local AIDS organization Beijing AiZhiXing Institute of Health Education (北京知爱行信息咨询中心）(www.aizhi.net). Over 150 people came out to Club Top to celebrate life and help in the fight against AIDS. After a Chinese AIDS themed movie, DJerry (from Destination) got the floor movin' and shakin' with Mizchif picking up where Djerry left off. BOA was proud to have a crowd so dedicated to the cause that they were finally asked to vacate the venue after 4am on this Thursday night. Thanks to everyone who came out to make this event a success!

With Mizchif on the decks and everyone in attendance in costume, the night was immediately off to a great start. BOA and Destination came together every Thursday to present Ladies' Night Out. Originally planned as a chill night for the ladies who love Destination, Ladies' Night Out quickly became a popular mixed dance night full of pop, hip hop, house and electro hits provided by Destination's first woman to touch the decks, Mizchif. With weekly themes like the Pink Party and special drinks to go along, we hated to see this night end! Fortunately, BOA and this crowd moved on to better things!
